We will be leaving in two days, so everything is done??
...right (there really needs to be a font indicating sarcasm.)
Background: Danny & I have been traveling & camping all over the US for many years. We started early in our marriage (30 years ago) camping in a tent; however, we soon advanced to an old Chevy pick-up with a camper shell. After the boys were born, we found our camping style was more suited to a pop-up camper. We eventually found it easier to travel with the family in a small motorhome - no more worries about bathroom breaks & making sandwiches while moving down the highway. However, we quickly learned the importance of being able to open the fridge without spilling a dozen eggs all over the carpet. Now, the kids have grown up & no longer travel with us - they just meet us in various places around the country. Anyway, for some reason, we have decided to once again spend part our vacation sleeping in a tent - on the ground - (sometimes I can actually talk Danny into staying in a hotel.) Also, we no longer travel by car, pick-up, or motorhome - we have the most fun on a motorcycle. So, now that you know the background information, you probably do no understand why I am not packed & ready to leave - I don't understand why I am not ready either.
I have always planned to create a checklist to make packing more efficient. When I am at work, everything is organized, color-coded, filed, outlined, planned & in its place. I have always said that I don't mind chaos - as long as its organized. Apparently, that tendency to organize has not carried over to my home life. I state that as I sit here surrounded by piles of items that need to go with us - I think. Why is packing so difficult? It's not like we can't just stop at Wal-Mart along the way if we have forgotten something. (We once bought a new TV for the motorhome before we crossed into Alabama. Who has an impulse purchase of a TV while on vacation?)
Anyway, speaking of piles... I really need to wash this pile of laundry so I will have clean clothes to pack. The hours are ticking away...
