Monday, June 20 - Watkins Glen State Park - New York

The day started with an early morning hike at Watkins Glen State Park.  We left our campsite before 7:00 (and breakfast) heading toward the main trail with many beautiful waterfalls.  Our goal was to beat the heat (& other tourists) along the trail.  It worked - with the exception of just a few other people, the trail & scenery was ours to enjoy.

The beginning of the trail...

Looking back where we had just hiked...

It was Tommy's idea for me to take a picture through the waterfall.
I thought it turned out to be a rather interesting shot.

The waterfalls continue...

The bridge (that you can't really see) is called Rainbow Bridge.

Now you can see Rainbow Bridge...

We ended the hike & return to camp.  After a proper camping breakfast (of bacon, eggs, pancakes & watermelon) - we headed West toward Niagara Falls.  However, we also found interesting sites along the way.

This area was the last stop on the Underground Railroad as escaping slaves headed across Lake Ontario to Canada & freedom.  It is now a beautiful park.

We made it to our KOA campsite at Grand Island, NY.  It is a good thing the amusement park directly behind our tent is closed on Mondays.  If I see a clown, we are leaving.

The first thing we need to do before setting up our camp is to plug in the electronic devices.  Let the charging begin....only a few things there... it is only round one.
